Vintage Huipil from Chichicastenango

$555.00

This Huipil is part of the traditional dress of Mayan Women in Guatemala. Each village has their own unique colors and patterns to distinguish themselves.

This particular piece is 100% handwoven, the base of each panel is a maroon colored silk, very soft and strong. The patterns woven into the silk are made of cotton threads. It measures 34 inchs wide and 59 inches long.

This is a piece of Art. If it speaks to your Heart, then it will be well loved and placed in your home or on your body with deep appreciation for the Mayan People as Master Weavers. In truth they are the Weavers of Space and Time.

Please note that this piece is most likely from the 1970’s and has been worn. Pieces of the panels are stretched, some of the threads are pulled and I have done my best to take pictures showing this. I also took pictures of the reverse side so you can see how detailed this weaving is.

Purchasing this item will help me to return to Guatemala in the future to connect with the Sacred Land, Her People, Her Waters and the Magic that resides in this part of the World.
